Oscar joined NCR in August 2017 as a senior service delivery engineer.
He first came to Edinburgh in 2003 after finishing his degree in Telecommunications Engineering to practice English for 6 months. Edinburgh turned out to be pretty different from Extremadura in Spain but he found it a really nice place to be. After a period of working in Europe he decided to return and settle in Edinburgh. After the ice and snow of a Norwegian winter, even the weather seemed ok!
Oscar's background is a mix of Linux Systems Administration and Infrastructure engineering. Previously, he worked as a senior engineer within the High Performance Computing (HPC) department for the University of Edinburgh, collaborating on all stages of the infrastructure life cycle, from planning, design and provisioning of systems and services to user support and decommissioning of HPC environments. Oscar is an open source software enthusiast and enjoys small project work / working on small projects using Raspberry Pi and Arduino devices.
Outside of work, Oscar is getting into DIY. He is proud of getting solar panels sorted out for the roof, and of building a shed from scratch with his dad without a major fall out. He also spends time going to Tae-kwon-do classes with his daughter and likes hanging out with friends and family.
