It's day two of CodeFest and the Media Team are back on hand to report on the latest news.
17.47 The winner is "The Enforcer". They solved a real problem the office has, mixed software and hardware and actually had something to show! Well done to Isla, Alison, Kruti, Luca and new boy, Andrew. You guys deserved it. :-)
17.46 Honourable mentions go to "Who Are You?", "GoJira" and the "Office Interior Design Challenge". Congrats to those teams.
17.45 The Melding is over. The winner is about to be announced.
15.28 Last update to the blog before the Melding. Lots of last minute preparation from all the teams. Get ready guys!
14.33 The arena is ready. The robots are ready. Let the war commence.
14.11 Breaking News Cristiano manages to flip the drone! He's now a certified pilot.
14.05 Victoria from the Media Team is given a go on the Droning President, in a media exclusive. Verdict: Lots of fun but it needs calibrating. On the plus side, she managed to get the drone between the gap in the whiteboard, a feat the team have been trying to do for two days.
13.56 Walk in on the Board Game Team trying the game out. Just in time to hear Kevin say he doesn't have a class.
13.54 The Database Team are having an impromptu meeting, throwing around combinations of the words Maven, Eclipse, NodeJS, NPM and JavaScript. Emilio is ignoring this and just keeps on working on the UI.
13.49 Kester has disappeared, leaving only his laptop behind. Who Are You? will have to introduce inanimate objects to their app.
13.46 Gary says that the press always exaggerate things; he definitely did not say that Got Groceries is a miserable failure.
13.43 Office Interior are almost done. They just need to print some pictures and put them on a tree. Unsure why.
13.28 Pinki turns the tables on the Media Team and gets an interview with Karen and Danni.
13.04 Boardgame Team are printing cards for their game! After lunch, first test, who will come out on top?
12.31 Fulvio is out first entry in the NCR Diary Room! Can't wait to see the footage.
12.29 Media Team are refuelling in the Editing room. Cookies, sweets, crisps, and to make it healthy, strawberries! Only the coffee is missing.
12.14 The first robot testing is happening in the foyer! Is the arena even ready?
12.03 After hiding in a corner most of the day yesterday, Chris from Stravamaps is now working alone as Pawel has had to run errands. They have three separate components, including the Google Maps API, which Chris is trying to get to work together in a simple JavaScript app - not his usual field of expertise. As he test route, last year's Tesco Hill makes a reappearance, showing how to get from the office to Tesco.
12.00 Despite being in different countries, Luca and Isla are collaborating well on the Enforcer. Isla has integrated Luca's program to her side of the project, allowing to transfer information from Outlook's Exchange Server to office LCD screen.
11.58 Our very own Richard is added to the no-fly list, after repeatedly crashing the drone into the ceiling and almost destroying a monitor. Is there anyone in the office that can fly is safely?
11.52 The TV has turned on, the Broadcasting service has control of all the TVs in the office. The TVs are scrolling through websites at Frank's command.
11.51 Frank is standing up, excitedly waiting for a TV to turn on, without using a remote. The tension mounts.
11.06 The Diary room is still empty, but the Media Team received an influx of visitors to the Editing room with Twitter tit-bits and journalistic questions.
10.56 Neil from Who Are You? enlists the help of the Media Team and their vast collection of stock photos to create avatars for the app.
10.49 The whiteboards are back up in Rankin. Transformed from the dark sad room to the most popular meeting space perhaps?
10.45 Fraser from Robot Wars is busy modelling a flipper for printing in 3D. Are we expecting a robot killer dolphin?
10.16 Breaking News Gregor, who is hard at work, comes storming into the Media Team editing room asking who is spreading vile rumors. Our own Richard mistakenly tweeted that it was Gregor that was banned from flying the drone, rather than Gordon.
9.46 Isla displays her progress on the Enforcer. In her defense, she only just logged on.
9.43 Gordon arrives for the day to start work on the Droning President. He has been added to the no-fly list for the drone, after flying it into the ceiling yesterday evening.
9.40 Old habits die hard. Both the Database Team and the Broadcast service are caught having daily stand ups. Though the Database team aren't calling it a stand up, or a scrum. It's an awesome team meeting morning get together extravaganza.
9.37 The Who Are You? app is up and running. It may be missing a few essential features, like a list of names, but it does detect when it comes within range of a beacon, and in turn the beacon tells the server the news. They think they will have something to show by the Melding this afternoon.
9.32 Jonathan from Robot Wars delivers a catching quote: "Rule N⁰1: Don't remove the safety labels."
9.29 The Board Game Team are off to a slow start, they are still working their way through breakfast.
9.19 Media Team have just finished their morning pow-wow and crack on with editing video for this afternoon's big melding and send Richard out to get more footage.
8.59 We catch up with Andrew at the coffee machine who tells us that The Enforcer's morning task is to get information showing on the LCD screens.
