Building upon an existing, highly skilled and successful team we are looking for people to join us in a development environment that emphasizes creativity, collaboration and product ownership.

As Technical Author, you will be working closely with other Technical Authors in the team as well as Software Engineers, Product Management, and Professional Services Engineering Teams to create and maintain high-quality technical and end-user documentation targeted at various internal and external target audiences, including user guides, developer guides, configuration guides, release notes, migration guides, developer tutorials, and more, in online, PDF, and interactive/video formats.

Your responsibilities would include: Enhancing and maintaining the technical tools used for documentation development, production, publishing, distribution, and maintenance. Maintaining a large corpus of existing documentation. Creating and/or sourcing diagrams and graphics to supplement text and enhance the presentation of concepts. Recording, editing, and producing video tutorials, as required. Becoming a subject matter expert for your relevant documentation area. Being strongly involved in the 'Technical Communications' Community of Practice group, to provide professional documentation guidance and to foster best practices for technical communication across the wider organisation.

To be successful we need someone who:

  • Has a wealth of knowledge of software and software development and is comfortable discussing technical topics with software engineers.
  • Has strong analytical and organisational skills, plenty of energy and initiative, and strong communication skills.
  • Is interested in technical communication tools, processes, and best practices to continuously improve the documentation development effort as part of the overall software development cycle.
  • Can coordinate with solutions and development management to agree on the documentation deliverables appropriate for new products and product updates in order to meet project timelines.
  • Is a quick learner and a keen team player, ideally with a strong appreciation for both technology and creative thinking.
  • Is an effective information hunter and problem solver.
  • Wants to constantly refresh and renew their skills.

Main Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of technical writing experience creating service materials, user guides, technical programming manuals, online help, and other forms of technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of XML and HTML5 technologies.
  • Experience in user and software requirements gathering.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and a strong focus on quality.
  • Ability to work in geographically-distributed, cross-functional teams.
  • Superior written and spoken English, including copyediting skills, especially in explaining technical subjects to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong understanding of information architecture including topic-based authoring.
