Bartek's childhood hero was Scrooge McDuck, thus Scotland has always been close to his heart. Following his idol’s footsteps Bartek enjoys an adventurous life: he swam in the Arctic Ocean, climbed the Great Wall of China, and even met Santa Claus himself. Led by a burning desire to wear a kilt and get incredibly rich, he joined the NCR Edinburgh team as a software developer in March 2015. The capital of Scotland enchanted him with its historical sights, picturesque landscapes, and bars serving breakfast all day long.
Having collected some experience with backend Java, Bartek looks forward to getting to know other technologies, which he describes as his imaginary friends. Recently he's become buddies with Linux and entered an "it's complicated" relationship with Ruby. Bartek likes both learning and sharing his knowledge, so if he had to choose another field of work it would probably be teaching. That’s why he finds it so great to be a part of a company, which supports continuous learning with hack and study days.
On a quest to become a well-rounded developer, Bartek enjoys pondering both low and high-level problems. He strongly prefers deleting code to writing it, so his classes are usually short and concise. His love for brevity includes favouring well-named tests over long documentation and always standing during daily Scrum meetings, just to keep it short.
Tl;dr: Bartek likes playing chess, has a black belt in judo, and his favourite vegetable is broccoli.
