Greg’s recent foray into computing, and the working world in general, has been one of many twists and turns, and not a small amount of reluctance.
Many of the steps leading to this point in time have been taken without his consent, starting with the major imposition of birth, and leading onto graduating with a Bachelors of Engineering Honours Degree in Computer Systems and Network from Edinburgh Napier University. Indeed his key plan after graduation was to become a teacher, in no small part due to the vast quantity of holidays. Unfortunately, a clear dislike between children and him put paid to this idea. And so, he returned to what he did before university, dealing with inanimate objects for a living, over tiny noisy human beings.
Outwardly, Greg would say he is enjoying his time as a System Administrator within Digital Insight at NCR, due to the wildly talented and varied people he works with and the interesting and daunting challenges ahead, because to say otherwise would just be rude.
Outside of his socially mandated misery that the rest of us call work, Greg tends to keep busy in order to forget the previous day. This can take the form of swimming, where he aims to cover a mile in the pool at least 4 times a week, climbing one of Scotland's few hills, playing badminton, or spending his Friday evenings and Saturday mornings running a youth/community club.
If you’re wondering which one Greg is on the picture above, he is the silly looking one on the left, happy despite the stellar Scottish weather.
