Ivan joined NCR Edinburgh in January 2015 as a Documentation Specialist after 17 years in IT as a programmer & tech writer working for a variety of IT companies and projects.
Ivan started with computers as a kid in the mid-80s by programming games and computer-generated music on his 8-bit machine. Later on he obtained an M.A. in English Philology and his deep interests in literature, linguistics and creative writing drew him to the interdisciplinary profession of technical writing - a fusion between machines and words that seemed to perfectly fit his mindset and skills.
Ivan was attracted to NCR Edinburgh by its exceptional team and an office culture built upon honesty, teamwork and mutual respect. The training days, the shared drive for constant improvement and innovation, and Edinburgh as a city finally won him over for the cause.
Ivan’s main interests in tech gravitate towards semantic web technologies, NLP, computer linguistics, HCI, and technical communication. As a pioneer technical writer in his home country, in 2007 Ivan brought to life the first locally hosted international technical communication event.
Outside of work, Ivan likes to play tennis and board games with his family and friends, to test neighbors’ limits through phat analog synth bass and beats as part of his music projects, to watch snooker and motorsports (the photo above was taken at Monza right after a Le Mans series race), and to play vintage PC games like wolf3d, keen4 and Prince of Persia (1989).
As a former ice-hockey player, Ivan’s co-founded and supported an ice-hockey sports club in Sofia.
