John Watson

John joined NCR as a senior software engineer at NCR in 2016 to be a part of the Connections team. He decided to join NCR because of the openness to experimentation and the range of opportunities it provides.

John is originally from a small village in Perthshire. He came to Edinburgh to study Computer Science and has stayed there ever since, enjoying the mix of architecture and culture it has to offer.

Prior to working with NCR he worked for Mastercard for 5 years and for the Yellow Pages for 4 years. Working on projects ranging from workflow / task allocation systems to OS upgrades and data migrations to fundamental re-architecture of gateway systems, but always with a strong focus on quality.

John is currently pursuing research into software architecture and how to achieve continuous deployment.

Aside from work, John enjoys a number of hobbies when he can find the time to do them. He enjoys playing the piano, drawing, and learning Mandarin. He also aspires to hike up all of the Munroes Scotland has to offer, which remains a work in progress.
