This first presentation of a two part series provides an overview of the technologies used today for virtualization and automation of systems and the reasons why this is important.

Infrastructure as code

A presentation that goes over the most prominent virtualization and system automation technologies, used today and how they are deployed in NCR Edinburgh. It describes shortly the benefits of deploying these technologies and how they are used in our company. Virtualization is only half the picture of the image, automation is the other half. Automation is achieved by the combined use of virtual environment managements systems and configuration management systems. One of the most prominent configuration managements systems, Chef, and how it is used in NCR Edinburgh is presented in the rest of the presentation.
