Dave Lawson

Dave joined NCR in July 2016 as a Software Engineer; attracted by the lure of free Bacon rolls on a Monday, real coffee, pizza on a Friday, training days, conferences, interesting work and the chance to work with talented people.

After doing a degree in Marine Biology at St Andrews, Dave went on to become a Coffee Shop manager for a well known American chain. Postponing the dream to setup a Coffee Shop & Roastery until his retirement, Dave went back to University to study a masters in Software Engineering. Developing software for the last ten years, Dave has worked in the tools team of a mobile games publisher, completed a number of integration projects for a provider of social care software and worked in the subscription and entitlements domain for a large American software company. Dave recently had a 6 month sabbatical working as a product owner before swiftly returning to what interests him, writing software.

Outside of work, Dave and his partner Emma are kept busy by their three young boys. At the weekend he can be found ferrying his kids around and swimming with them in Edinburgh's Commonwealth Pool. He can be found running round Arthur's seat most lunchtimes and found slumped at his desk recovering most afternoons. Dave is currently saving up for a foosball table (Emma says he is not getting one).
