Gordon joined the NCR Edinburgh office as technical lead working on mobile banking projects at the start of 2015.
Gordon has been working in software development for long enough to remember the days when fat clients ruled the roost, javascript was only used when you want to change the colour of text on a page, where server side programming usually involved perl and where the majority of webpages were laid out using tables. Ever one to move with the times Gordon has for the last 10 years worked on enterprise java solutions, but just to prove that old dogs can learn new tricks he is also experienced in developing rich clients using “proper” javascript. Gordon’s specific interests are in integration, server-side architectures and big data. On a day to day level Gordon is passionate about mentoring and strongly encourages his teams towards clean, well structured code with strong unit test coverage.
Outside of work Gordon is likely to be found espousing the virtues of some obscure new musician or other, particularly those from the indie, electronica or modern classical genres. Aside from music Gordon is keen on keeping himself fit and healthy, having hung up his rugby boots Gordon is now intent on competing in triathlons and can often be found doing lengths of the local pool in his lunch break or pounding the pavements on his way home from work.
