Natalia’s exploration of the world of computers started with a decision to make a website for her favourite band. Most of her teenage nights were filled with thoughts on how to fit a child div inside a parent container and how to convince her grandma that it was critical to stay up all night to look for the perfect font for her website. After weeks of sleep deprivation, Natalia picked up the basics of what she now knows as front end development.
Fascinated with how programming languages expose the inner workings of computers, Natalia switched machines for people and embarked on a journey to study Romance languages in a noble attempt to understand the works of the human mind. After joyous contemplation of Greek philosophy and French poetry, Natalia entered the world of low-level programming in C through the doors of University of Bristol. 187666 segfaults later, she welcomed Java in her life with teary eyes. It was love for Java that led Natalia to join NCR Edinburgh in June 2015 as a Software Engineer, but it is the company’s culture that makes her sure that NCR Edinburgh is the coolest place to be.
Apart from the fact that NCR Edinburgh has got the highest concentration of smart people per square mile, Natalia thinks that Edinburgh itself is a great place to be - mostly because there are a lot of people with freckles.
Natalia enjoys both ends of development and is yet to decide whether she prefers embracing the chaos on the front or subjecting to adamant logic on the back. She has a passion for learning new things, preferably concurrently. Her ever-expanding list of concepts to master includes the elegance of Ruby and the art of User Experience.
Natalia is also a long-distance runner, road cyclist, backpacking enthusiast, football fanatic and a black belt holder in Brazilian jiu-jitsu (to be).
